Potassium aspartate (INCI: Potassium Aspartate) is the potassium salt of aspartic acid. It supplies soluble potassium to a formula and usually appears in hydrating and restorative complexes as a mineral cofactor, often alongside its magnesium version. As an active it plays a supporting role. It helps round out the formula and the feel of skin, but it has no proven effect on its own; its value is in the blend. On a label it should not be read as a decisive ingredient. Topically it is not systemically relevant, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without concern. Tolerance is high, with low irritation and allergy potential, suitable for sensitive skin. It is not comedogenic at usual concentrations.
