Magnesium aspartate (INCI: Magnesium Aspartate) is the magnesium salt of aspartic acid. In a formula it supplies magnesium in a soluble form and usually appears in hydrating and restorative complexes as a mineral cofactor. As an active it is a supporting ingredient, not a headliner. It contributes to formula balance and to the comfort feel of skin, but evidence for a visible effect on its own is limited. It makes sense as part of a blend rather than as a star ingredient. Topically it is not systemically relevant, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without concern. Tolerance is high, with low irritation and allergy potential. It is suitable for sensitive skin and is not comedogenic at usual concentrations.
