Raspberry Ketone (INCI: Raspberry Ketone) is an aromatic compound with the typical scent of raspberry. In cosmetics it is used as a fragrance ingredient to scent a formula; claims of fat burning or slimming from topical use have no support. As for skincare benefit, it gives nothing to the skin: its role is sensory, to add scent. Do not expect effects on wrinkles, pigmentation or firmness. In pregnancy and breastfeeding topical use at low concentrations poses no systemic problem, though anyone wanting to minimize fragrance may prefer unscented formulas. Skin tolerance is usually good, but allergy risk is medium: in sensitized people it can trigger a contact reaction. Most people do not react, but that is why it is labeled a potential allergen.
