A nourishing plant oil. Safe.
Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Seed Oil (INCI: Rubus Idaeus Seed Oil) is a plant oil rich in essential fatty acids (linoleic and alpha-linolenic) and vitamin E. In a formula it acts as an emollient: it softens skin and reinforces the lipid barrier, leaving a nourished feel without heaviness. As a barrier oil it performs reliably. It is not an active that fixes a specific concern, but its fatty acid profile makes it useful for dry or compromised skin. The reputation for natural sun protection has no serious basis and it must not replace SPF. In pregnancy and breastfeeding it can be applied without restriction, since a topical oil has no systemic effect. Tolerance is high and allergy risk low. Comedogenicity is very low (1), so it rarely aggravates oily or acne-prone skin. Anyone with a known berry allergy should keep it in mind.
