Zinc Chloride is a mineral zinc salt. INCI: Zinc Chloride. In a formula it works as an astringent and antimicrobial component: it dries, tightens pores to the touch, and curbs bacterial growth, so it is added to products for oily and acne-prone skin and to deodorants. It is a functional mineral component with a mild active action rather than a potent anti-acne active. At high concentrations it can dry and irritate, so the dose is kept low. Pregnancy safety. At cosmetic concentrations topical use is systemically negligible, with no evidence of harm. It can be used during pregnancy and lactation. Tolerance. At working concentrations, irritation potential is low, but dry and sensitive skin should introduce it cautiously.
