Zinc Sulfate (INCI: Zinc Sulfate) is a soluble zinc salt used in formulas for oily and acne-prone skin and in astringent lotions. It acts as a regulating ingredient with a mild sebum-control and skin-refining effect. On efficacy, topical zinc in general has reasonable data, especially combined with other actives; still, it is best seen as a supporting ingredient. On its own it does not replace acne treatments with a solid base, but it adds to a well-built formula without promising miracles. Applied topically at cosmetic doses it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without concern. Tolerance is good: irritation and allergy are low, suitable for sensitive skin. At cosmetic concentrations most people show no reaction.
