Aloe Barbadensis Extract (INCI Aloe Barbadensis Extract) is a leaf extract of aloe containing polysaccharides, amino acids and trace elements. In a formula it works as a moisturising and soothing ingredient: it holds water in the stratum corneum and eases tightness and mild redness after sun or shaving. The efficacy view is positive but without miracles. Aloe's moisturising and softening action is confirmed, while a deep anti-ageing or therapeutic effect should not be expected. This is a reliable hydrating and soothing ingredient that fits well into care for sensitive and dehydrated skin. During pregnancy and breastfeeding the extract can be used. Applied topically in a product it is systemically negligible, with no restrictions. Tolerance is good. The irritation potential is low, the allergy risk is low, and the ingredient suits sensitive skin. People allergic to plants of the lily family may occasionally react, but for most people aloe is well tolerated.
