On efficacy, this is a supporting component. Algae supply polysaccharides and minerals of some interest, but the human-skin evidence base for this specific extract is modest. It adds to a moisturizing formula, it does not hold one up on its own. Because of its topical use and lack of systemic relevance, it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without concern. Tolerance is good: low irritation and allergy potential. As with any marine extract, a sensitized person could react, though most skin sees nothing.
