A brown algae (laminaria) extract. It soothes, supports hydration and gently regulates oil. Well tolerated.
Topical application
BLimited evidence. One RCT or several controlled studies with limitations.
A soothing marine extract. Safe.
Laminaria extract (INCI: Laminaria Saccharina Extract) comes from a brown seaweed and provides polysaccharides, minerals and trace elements. In formulas it is used for its soothing effect, its contribution to hydration and a light help with oil control. Efficacy should be framed realistically. It is a support ingredient of marine origin: it provides hydrating polysaccharides and compounds with some antioxidant activity, but direct clinical evidence is limited. It adds comfort and a mild calming touch to the formula, without a proven effect on a specific problem. Topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good: low irritation and allergy potential, suitable for sensitive skin. Given its marine origin, the usual caution is sensible in people with a known allergy to seaweed or seafood.
