Aureobasidium Pullulans Ferment is a fermentation product of the fungus Aureobasidium pullulans, rich in beta-glucan. In cosmetics it is used as a hydrating, soothing ingredient: beta-glucan holds water, forms a comfortable film at the surface and supports a smoother, rested feel. It appears in serums, creams and masks. On efficacy, beta-glucan has reasonable backing as a humectant and comfort agent, with data pointing to better hydration and a smoother look. It is a solid supporting active inside a formula, useful above all for dehydrated and reactive skin, without becoming a treatment that restructures skin on its own. For topical use in pregnancy and breastfeeding there are no risk signals. Systemic absorption from skin is minimal, so it can be used in these stages. Tolerance is good. Low irritation and low allergy potential, suitable for sensitive skin. Most people see no reactions.
