A soothing plant extract. Safe.
Oat bran extract (INCI: Avena Sativa Bran Extract) is a plant-derived ingredient rich in beta-glucan, starches and avenanthramide compounds. In cosmetics it is valued for its soothing effect and for supporting the hydration of sensitive skin. Its efficacy has better backing than the average extract. Colloidal oat and its fractions have a tradition of use and data in reactive skin prone to dryness and itch. Here it works as a soothing and hydrating support ingredient: it helps reduce the feeling of discomfort and improves comfort, without treating a specific condition. Topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is very good: low irritation and allergy potential, suitable for sensitive skin. People with a known cereal allergy should keep the usual caution, though reactions are uncommon.
