A soothing plant extract. Safe.
Chamomile extract is obtained from Chamomilla recutita (Matricaria). INCI: Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract. In a formula it works as a soothing and antioxidant component: it contains bisabolol, chamazulene, and flavonoids credited with anti-inflammatory and softening action, so chamomile is added to products for sensitive and redness-prone skin. Chamomile and bisabolol have a meaningful soothing base, though the extract's strength depends on the concentration of active compounds. It is a useful supporting component. Pregnancy safety. Topical use is systemically negligible, with no evidence of harm. With allergy to Asteraceae plants (ragweed, mugwort) it is best introduced cautiously. Tolerance. Irritation potential is low.
