Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba Guar Gum Extract is a polysaccharide gum from the seed endosperm of the guar tree Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (Indian and Pakistani legume). Consists of high-molecular-weight galactomannan. Mechanism. Humectant and thickener. On skin it forms a thin film, retains moisture in the stratum corneum, stabilizes emulsions, and gives the product a pleasant consistency. No standalone active skin pharmacology – a functional ingredient. Where applied. Cleansing gels, masks, creams, hair conditioners, body care textures, 'sulfate-free' washes. In Spain – mass-market lines Mercadona, Garnier, and in niche natural brands as a substitute for synthetic thickeners. Evidence base. A functional component with many years of use. Humectant and film-forming effect is confirmed in standard TEWL tests. No standalone active effect against wrinkles, acne, or pigmentation. Safety. CIR confirmed safety. Hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, non-irritating. In patients with severe food allergy to legumes a reaction is theoretically possible on topical application – extremely rare in practice. Pregnancy and lactation – safe without restrictions. Best suited to: any skin and hair type. A solid natural alternative to synthetic carbomers and acrylates in 'clean beauty' formulas.
