Diisostearoyl polyglyceryl-3 dimer dilinoleate (INCI Diisostearoyl Polyglyceryl-3 Dimer Dilinoleate) is a thick, high-molecular-weight ester. In formulas it works as a wrapping emollient and structuring agent, mostly in oil textures, lip balms and color sticks, where it gives body and a smooth glide. This is a functional texture component, not an active. It builds a comfortable film, holds water through light occlusion and improves product feel, but on its own it does not correct signs of aging. Topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It is very well tolerated: low risk of irritation and allergy. Comedogenicity is low (level 1), so on oily, acne-prone skin it is worth watching in very occlusive products, though it rarely causes trouble.
