Passionfruit extract (INCI: Passiflora Edulis Fruit Extract) is a botanical ingredient sourced from the pulp of passion fruit. In formulas it brings sugars, organic acids and some antioxidant activity, and it mostly acts as a supporting humectant and a plant-derived accent of the composition. On efficacy, let's be honest: this is a supporting component, not a treatment active. It improves the feeling of hydration and softness in the short term, but solid clinical evidence for deeper effects is thin. It works inside a complete formula rather than as the lead. In topical use systemic absorption is minimal, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without any foreseeable concern. Tolerance is good: both irritation and allergy potential are low, making it suitable for sensitive skin.
