Rhodiola rosea root extract (INCI: Rhodiola Rosea Root Extract) is a botanical that brings salidroside, rosavins and polyphenols with antioxidant activity. In a formula it acts as a supporting additive: it helps quench free radicals and gives skin a calming feel. Its fame as an adaptogen comes from oral use; on skin that frame does not apply the same way. Specific topical clinical evidence is modest, so it is better seen as a secondary antioxidant than as the engine of an anti-aging routine. It performs inside well-built formulas, not as a sole lead. Applied topically it has no meaningful systemic passage, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy potential. It suits sensitive skin and rarely causes a reaction.
