An antioxidant plant extract. Safe.
Rhodiola rosea extract (INCI: Rhodiola Rosea Extract) is a botanical rich in compounds such as salidroside and rosavins, with antioxidant activity. In a formula it is used to calm the feel of skin and support its defence against oxidative stress while keeping a fresh look. On efficacy: it has a reasonable antioxidant basis at lab level, but direct clinical evidence on skin is still limited. We treat it as a supporting soothing and antioxidant active with a moderate base, not a star ingredient. It adds value inside a complete formula. In topical use it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without any foreseeable risk. Tolerance is usually good, with low irritation and allergy potential, suitable for sensitive skin. As a botanical extract, someone already sensitised could react, though most people see no trouble at all.
