A soothing plant extract. Safe.
Saussurea involucrata (snow lotus) extract appears on the label as Saussurea Involucrata Extract. The plant grows high in the mountains, and the extract carries polyphenols and flavonoids with antioxidant activity. In a formula it acts as a supporting additive: it helps calm the feeling of reactive skin and adds light antioxidant cover. As a skincare active its role is secondary. Direct clinical data on human skin is modest and leans mostly on lab work. Do not expect a marked anti-aging effect on its own; it performs better alongside well-evidenced actives such as retinoids or vitamin C. Applied topically its passage into the blood is negligible, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good. The irritation and allergy potential is low, which makes it suitable for sensitive skin. Most people get no reaction.
