Trimethylsiloxysilicate (INCI: Trimethylsiloxysilicate) is a film-forming silicone resin. As it dries it leaves a thin, flexible, water-resistant layer that sets makeup, lip color or sunscreen and improves how long they last. It is a functional component, not a treatment active. Its role is durability and resistance to water and rubbing, not skin care. It gives a long-wear finish and a light feel, but it does not hydrate or treat. It is inert on skin and has no systemic uptake topically, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is high: low irritation potential and low allergy risk, fine for sensitive skin. It adds no relevant comedogenic load. Since it is a water-resistant film, it is worth removing thoroughly at the end of the day with a suitable makeup remover so it does not build up.
