It's used in toners and soothing products for its astringent effect: tannins slightly contract the surface and give a sense of refined pores and a matte feel. On efficacy: a supporting ingredient. The astringency is real and useful for oily skin wanting a fresher feel and less shine in the short term, but the pore effect is transient and cosmetic, not structural. Broad anti-inflammatory claims depend on the tannin concentration of the specific extract. Topical use during pregnancy and breastfeeding poses no problem. It's worth preferring alcohol-free versions if skin dries out, though this raw material is a water-based hydrosol. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy potential.
