A moisturizing plant extract. Safe.
Prickly pear fruit extract (INCI: Opuntia Ficus-Indica Fruit Extract) is obtained from the fruit of the Opuntia cactus, rich in mucilage, sugars and a little vitamin C. In a formula it hydrates, gives a soothing feel and brings an antioxidant fraction. This is a functional supporting ingredient. It hydrates and softens reasonably, but it is not a corrective active against wrinkles or pigment. It fits as a comforting ingredient in soothing formulas. Topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Good tolerance: low risk of irritation and allergy, suitable for sensitive skin. It adds no appreciable oily load, so it suits combination skin too.
