A pracaxi oil from the Amazon. It nourishes skin and supports the barrier, rich in behenic acid. Well tolerated.
Topical application
BLimited evidence. One RCT or several controlled studies with limitations.
A nourishing plant oil. Safe.
Pracaxi oil (INCI: Pentaclethra Macroloba Seed Oil) comes from the seeds of an Amazonian tree. In a formula it works as an emollient oil phase: it adds lipids, slows water loss and leaves skin more supple. It stands out for its high content of behenic acid, a long-chain fatty acid uncommon in plant oils. This is a functional emollient, not a treatment active. It nourishes and genuinely supports the barrier, but it will not smooth wrinkles or fade pigment. Its value lies in the rich texture and lipid-barrier support. Applied topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is high: low irritation and allergy potential, suitable for sensitive skin. Its comedogenicity is moderate (2 of 5), so oily or acne-prone skin should introduce it carefully or choose lighter textures.
