A plant oil. Safe.
Parsley seed oil (INCI: Petroselinum Crispum Seed Oil) is a plant oil with petroselinic acid and aromatic compounds. In a formula it gives emollience: it softens the skin and, per the maker, helps even out tone. It appears in serums, face oils, and brightening products. As an active it is a supporting component. The idea of a more even tone rests on a limited evidence base, so a mild, gradual effect is realistic rather than real pigment lightening. Its main role stays barrier care and comfort. For topical use there is no relevant systemic risk; it can be used in pregnancy and lactation. The oil holds natural aromatic compounds, so very reactive skin is better off doing a patch test first. Overall tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy potential. Its comedogenicity is mild (2), so oily and acne-prone skin should introduce it carefully.
