Polyquaternium-22 is a synthetic charged film-forming polymer. INCI: Polyquaternium-22. In a formula it works as a moisturizing and conditioning film former: it creates a thin hygroscopic film on skin and hair, holds water, removes static, and gives smoothness. It is a functional component, not a skincare active. It often appears in hair products and cleansing and moisturizing products. Pregnancy safety. The polymer does not penetrate skin, is systemically negligible, and there is no evidence of harm. It can be used during pregnancy and lactation. Tolerance. Irritation and allergen potential are low, suitable for sensitive skin.
