Baobab seed oil (INCI: Adansonia Digitata Seed Oil) is pressed from the seeds of the African tree and is rich in fatty acids such as oleic, linoleic and palmitic, plus tocopherols. In formulas it works as a nourishing emollient that softens dry skin and supports barrier function. This is a functional emollient component with a good lipid profile. It brings comfort and nourishment, and the linoleic acid content fits the needs of the skin barrier. It is not a corrective active against wrinkles or spots, but it adds to a repairing formula. Applied topically it has no meaningful systemic absorption, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy risk. Comedogenicity is moderate (2), so on oily or acne-prone skin it is better introduced with some caution; on dry or normal skin it brings comfort without difficulty.
