A soothing plant water. Safe.
Hinoki cypress water is the water fraction obtained when processing Japanese hinoki cypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa). INCI: Chamaecyparis Obtusa Water. In a formula it works as a fragrant water base and a mild soothing component: it carries trace volatile compounds with a woody scent and gives a light toning feel. It is a pleasant fragrance-and-hydration base rather than a standalone active. The clinical effect of hinoki water is limited. Pregnancy safety. Topical use, low systemic absorption, no evidence of harm. It can be used during pregnancy and lactation. Tolerance. Irritation and allergen potential are low, but with sensitivity to coniferous scents it is best introduced cautiously.
