Caprooyl Sphingosine (INCI identical) is a ceramide-precursor lipid, derived from sphingosine with a caproic acid chain. In formulas it supports the skin barrier and reduces dryness, complementing the action of ceramides. On efficacy, it fits as a barrier-support ingredient rather than a standalone active. It provides building blocks for stratum corneum lipids and improves the comfort of dry or reactive skin, especially alongside ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids.
