In a formula it combines two functions: it draws water to the surface layer and forms a film that smooths the surface of skin and hair. This is a texture and surface-hydration component, not a treatment active. It improves feel and gives a smooth sensation but does not repair the barrier or work in depth. Useful as support, without expecting corrective effects. Applied topically it is not systemically relevant, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without issue. Tolerability is good. Irritation and allergy potential are both low, suitable for sensitive skin. If you have a known sesame allergy, it is worth checking the formula and patch-testing first if in doubt. There is no data on relevant comedogenicity.
