An antioxidant active. Safe.
Tocophersolan is a water-soluble form of vitamin E (TPGS). Its INCI is Tocophersolan. In a formula it works as an antioxidant and helps protect both the product and the skin against oxidation, while also improving the solubility of other ingredients. Topical vitamin E has a reasonable antioxidant basis: it neutralises free radicals and supports formula stability. This water-soluble version is handy in water-based formulas. It is a good supporting ingredient, not an active that on its own erases wrinkles or pigment. Topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good and irritation and allergy risk are low. It suits sensitive skin and is not comedogenic, so it fits oily or acne-prone skin.
