Phloretin is a plant-derived antioxidant polyphenol found in apple and its peel. Its INCI name is Phloretin. In a formula it helps defend the skin against free radicals and supports a more even tone. On efficacy: phloretin has reasonable support as an antioxidant. It works well alongside vitamin C and ferulic acid, a classic combination that strengthens protection against oxidative stress and light. As a supportive antioxidant it is a solid active, though on its own it is not a strong brightener. Applied topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is high, with a low irritation and allergy potential, and it suits sensitive skin. Most people see no reaction.
